Palmerston North Volunteer vacancies:

Drivers: We need drivers!

  • Property Runs - Our drivers assist us with weekly prison runs to deliver property to the prison. These drives are on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoons each week. You would need to be available for a minimum of two hours and have full drivers licence.

  • Prison Visits – We provide transport to people living in Palmerston North to visit Manawatu Prison. The visits are usually from Wednesday to Saturday and we have a roster for drivers who are available when a visit drive is booked. This role involves driving the person out to the prison and waiting there for them while they conduct the visit to drive them back to Palmerston North again. You would need to be available for a minim of three hours per visit and have a full drivers licence.

Community Support volunteers:

This role involves providing additional assistance to people released from prison to help them in their reintegration process. It’s a social support role, perhaps visiting once a week and keeping in contact with them to provide a friendly support person. It may involve picking people up from Manawatu prison on release and bringing them to the PARS office.

You will need a full drivers licence and mileage will be reimbursed. If you have a background in social work or support work that would be beneficial.

Training is provided for all volunteer roles.
